Jon Lech Johansen, the Nowegian teenager who broke DVD encryption and was subsequently arrested after protests by industry pressure groups like the MPAA, has been cleared of all charges by a court in Norway.
His only “crime” was to write a program that enabled him to watch his legally purchased DVDs on his home computer and then to distribute that code.
He said:
Today it’s been clarified that consumers have certain rights that the film industry can’t take away from us.
Nice one Norway!
